Before I get into the causes of toenail fungus I want to provide a couple facts. Did you know that the majority of nail fungus sufferers get it in their toenails and not their fingernails?
This is because toenail fungus thrives in warm and damp conditions like your shoes, which isn’t common for hands. Also, most people aren’t as self-conscious about their toes so they have a tendency to ignore the initial symptoms of toenail fungus.
Common Causes of Toenail Fungus May Include:
- A broken toenail, which helps the fungus to enter
- A separated toenail
